Book sale proceeds to fund new library stock

A special book sale held to help mark World Book Day has raised nearly three hundred pounds.

The money will be used to buy new books for the school library, and comes after teachers across the school spent Thursday helping pupils to review books themselves as part of a special activity designed to encourage and develop a love of reading.

The book fair was held every lunchtime and after school, with a proportion of the profits designated for reinvestment into new reading materials to help each subject.

One of the organisers of the World Book Day activities, Miss Mathews, was delighted with how it went:

“As a school, we consistently motivate our students to value reading and the academic and mental health gains that can be made from reading for pleasure. We held the book sale for pupils to add to their growing collection of literature and it was very well attended.

The total means we will be able to purchase some more stock for the school library and keep the love of literature growing.”
