Teacher of Design and Technology/Engineering

This is a permanent, full-time post to commence September 2022. The role will include teaching Design and Technology at KS3 as well as Engineering at KS4. It is payable on the Teachers’ Pay Range according to qualifications and experience.  Applications are welcome from NQTs and experienced staff.

The DT Department currently consists of three specialist teaching staff. Lessons are taught predominantly in 4 specialist DT classrooms, including 2 workshops and a catering classroom. All our classrooms have network facilities, digital projectors and visualisers. There is a range of equipment/machinery available for use in the workshops to support the curriculum.

The DT department is committed to delivering a curriculum accessible to all which provides the broadest possible range of opportunities for students. One which will allow students to become self-motivated and confident learners, who can work independently and as part of a team, whilst developing skills for life. We aim to ensure that learners develop technical and practical competencies as well as the wider skills valued by employers. Our main priority is for students to be problem solvers who are not afraid of making mistakes. We hope our students will become responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.

It is an exciting and challenging time to be teaching DT/Engineering at Perryfields Academy. We are constantly adapting teaching and learning strategies to keep pace with ever-shifting changes to both the curriculum and exam board specifications.

There is scope for the role to develop into a middle management role for the right candidate, this would include a TLR payment
