Funds raised for Perrys student & family

An incredible £680 has been raised in a weeks worth of fundraising efforts for Perryfields student Alex Maddocks and his family.

Alex is currently undergoing treatment for a rare form of bone cancer, with friends of the family launching a gofundme page to help ease financial pressures during a difficult time and enable them to make as many memories as possible.

Students and staff quickly orchestrated a week of fundraising, including sporting competitions, a bake sale and even an ice cream van coming onto site.

Mr Pinfield, Alex’s Head of Year, has been in communication with the family and helped organise this weeks events:

“A massive thankyou to everyone who contributed, helped and shared our efforts this week to raise much needed funds for Alex Maddocks and his family at this incredibly difficult time for them. The response and support has been amazing and really demonstrates what a very special community we are.

Hopefully the money raised will make things a little better for Alex and his family during this desperate time, and once again we thank all our students and staff in the way the school community has rallied together to make this week something really special.”

The school total of £635 added together with the proceeds from the ice cream van added separately has helped take the gofundme past the £5,000 mark.
