GCSE students have the opportunity to visit a Gurdwara and two churches during Year 10. This enables them to further develop an understanding of features within a religious place of worship and engage with believers in question and answer sessions. Students can experience, first hand, how religious people worship, bringing learning to life.
Students are given the opportunity to develop links with students from another school. The aim of the project is for students to engage in increasing an awareness of British values within our community. The project promotes communication skills, allows student to build their confidence and create friendships with students from another school. The platform encourages young people to discuss issues that affect them as individuals.
In the lead up to Christmas each year, Perryfields students have the opportunity to demonstrate kindness and generosity by participating in the Christmas Hamper Appeal. Students contribute food and toiletry items that are shared between local charities such as Midland Langar Seva Society, Christians Against Poverty and Leslie’s Care Packages as well as the needy in our immediate local area.
In the 2019 appeal we collected over 2100 items. This links to a Year 7 unit of work about showing compassion.
