Perrys win mixed U15 football title

Perryfields students could be set for more glory after winning a mixed boys/girls football tournament hosted by West Bromwich Albion.

The squad of eight, selected from across Year 9 and 10, beat off the challenge of schools from across the area to earn not just a trophy, but a place at the United Forces Community Cup 2024 at Manchester United Football Club on Thursday 30th May.

Having qualified from their group, the team beat George Salter 1-0 in the semi finals ending their 100% record, before sealing a 2-1 win over St Michaels in the final.

Curriculum Support Assistant Mr Peasley helped organise the team:

“We had to play six group matches at first of 10 minutes and only just made the semi finals, but to win that as underdogs, we are so proud of their achievements and the pupils are flabbergasted that such an opportunity is now coming their way.”

It comes as the Year 7 football team reached the Sandwell Schools Cup Final, beating Woodgreen Academy 4-2 in the semi final.
